JAMMU, Oct 11: The abrogation of Article-370, followed by reorganization and bifurcation of the erstwhile State into Ladakh and Jammu Kashmir Union Territories, the Jammu, province has got a big relief from the tag of ‘a discriminated unit’ and the people here themselves stand witness to the fact that during last two years, Union Government’s initiatives have been mainly focused on development and prosperity of this ignored region.
This was stated by Balbir Ram Rattan, J&K BJP spokesperson, while making an appeal to the people of Jammu to not trust Kashmir-centric regional political parties, which always had Kashmir as their core constituency in all matters. He said that no doubt the successive governments in Jammu and Kashmir headed by NC, PDP and Congress, had ministers from Jammu but still this province was not treated at par with Kashmir for the reason that none dared to utter a single word against shabby treatment to Jammu and its people.
Balbir said that time never remains same. After reorganization of the erstwhile State, the time for Jammu and its fate has changed, which is a good sign for the people, who had very bitter taste of the Governments of NC, PDP and Congress for decades and wanted a change.
Article 370 had always been used as a tool by the regional parties for emotional politics. It did not benefit general public except a handful of families. He said that those promising the restoration of Article 370 are, infact, misleading the people of Kashmir just for their own political survival.
A glance at the establishment of prestigious health, technical and academic educational institutions, modernisation of railway station, upgradation of airport, widening of the existing roads and construction of ring roads, development of water bodies and tourist destinations etc. will make one understand and believe that the Government at the centre is doing its best in changing the fate of Jammu by taking this region towards new heights in every field while treating Kashmir equal in all matters after the reorganization of Jammu & Kashmir.
