JAMMU, Oct 31: Shamshaan Enlightenment Welfare Association (SEWA), working with the matters related to Shamshaan Ghats’ (Cremation Grounds) conditions and facilities available to the society as a welfare measure expressed it with concern that the shed at Shamshaan Ghat Bhour Camp has damaged due to a light storm and wind.
“Sheets of the Shed are detached and fallen down causing a hurdle during cremation. Moreover, the old shed constructed by the society is also in dilapidated condition. There is urgent requirement of repairing the damaged sheets of both the sheds,” SEWA said in a handout while adding that there is resentment among the people of different societies living in nearby villages on the poor and inferior quality of work done and payment made thereof.
SEWA also requested the concerned department to resolve the long pending demand of ‘Snan Ghat’ at the Cremation Ground and execute the repairing work of the sheds so that any kind of untoward incident does not occur during cremation.
