JAMMU, Apr 19:  Raising controversial issues again, former Minister in Dr Farooq Abdullah Government and additional general secretary of J&K National Conference, Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamaal  today projected  the demand of repealing Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) and making Line of Control (LoC) irrelevant.
Dr Kamaal,  a senior NC leader and brother of Dr Farooq Abdullah, known for his controversial remarks today floated fresh demand of making LoC irrelevant which is against the spirit of a resolution passed by the Indian Parliament with regard to the claim on the Pak occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
During his public meeting at Doda and several other public meetings in Rajouri and Reasi, the NC leader said that beginning should be made from withdrawal of AFSPA in the J&K state. He said the Army should be withdrawn from most of the parts in Kashmir and all the anti-militancy operations be stopped forthwith. He said 26 years are more than enough for major wars to end. Therefore, all the anti-militancy activities be stopped in the valley because the people are suffering due to it.
The NC leader said that Handwara deaths at the hands of  the security forces is a latest case in point instead singling out the guilty, more forces have been deployed by Govt. He said alienation of the people of J&K from Indian main stream can be reversed if serious steps are taken to win over their hearts.
