Repeated accidents matter of serious concern: Azad

JAMMU, Apr 11: Senior Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad has expressed serious concern over repeated tragic road accidents in the erstwhile Doda district.
Drawing the attention of Chief Minister towards the frequent occurrence of road accidents leading to loss of precious lives, Mr Azad said, “there is an immediate need to have a comprehensive road safety action plan to contain the rising number of accidents”.
“Road safety is a key concern in J&K due to geographical and other factors and keeping in view the loss incurred by the State, I had written to Prime Minister earlier underlining the need to formulate a coherent action plan for the Chenab region”, he said, adding “let us wake up now”.
Referring to yesterday’s accident, Mr Azad said, “My heart goes out to the families of those who lost their dear ones in the fatal accident and I pray to Almighty to give them strength to bear this loss. I also pray for the speedy recovery of the injured”.
