JAMMU, Mar 28: In what could be termed as useless exercise, the Government today tabled several annual and half-yearly reports in the Legislative Assembly after the period ranging between three years to 16 years.
Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs, Abdul Rahim Rather on behalf of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah tabled half-yearly reports of the State Vigilance Organization for the period between January 1, 2009 to June 30, 2009; July 1, 2009 to December 31, 2009; January 1, 2010 to June 30, 2010; July 1, 2010 to December 31, 2010.
Similarly, he also laid on the table of the House annual reports on the accounts of Jammu and Kashmir State Cable Car Corporation Limited for the financial years 1997-98, 1998-99, 1999-2000 and 2000-2001 on behalf of Minister for Tourism.
Interestingly, it was for the first time that annual reports on the accounts of Corporation were tabled in the House as the Corporation was incorporated on November 28, 1998 with an authorized capital of Rs 25 crore.
Mr Rather also laid on the table of the House on behalf of Minister for Industries and Commerce audit reports of the accounts of the Jammu and Kashmir Khadi and Village Industries (KVIB) Board for the year 2007-08, 2008-09, 2009-10 and 2010-11.
Is there any justification for tabling the annual and half-yearly reports after such a huge gap remains a million dollar question before the concerned authorities as well as the concerned Ministers.
