*Advisor Ganai unfurls Tricolour at Srinagar, DCs at distt hqrs

SRINAGAR, Jan 27: The 70th Republic Day was celebrated across the Kashmir valley with Advisor to Governor Khurshid Ahmed Ganai unfurling the National Flag at summer capital and Deputy Commissioners at respective District Headquarters.
Advisor Ganai took salute at the main function in the summer capital and greeted the people of the State. During his address, the Advisor stated that the Republic Day was the occasion to recall the contribution of the framers of Constitution which promises a democratic, socialist and secular republic for the people of the country.
He said India was now amongst the frontrunner countries in the world and had already become an economic superpower. This, he said was due to the hard work and resilience of our countrymen particularly the workers, farmers and the soldiers. He further said that Jammu & Kashmir had come a long way during the last 72 years of independence and had now made substantial progress in the fields of education, health and infrastructure development.
Emphasizing on the motto of education and health for all, the Advisor said Jammu & Kashmir had still a distance to traverse and achieve full development for all its citizens and areas, particularly in the fields of education and health. He enumerated the achievements of the Governor’s Administration during the last seven months, particularly in the sectors of education, social welfare and development of STs, SCs and other backward classes. He said that the Central Government was also providing liberal financial assistance to the State which needs to be spent well for the benefit of the people.
PULWAMA: The Republic Day was celebrated at District Police Lines with great fervor and enthusiasm. Deputy Commissioner, Ghulam Mohammad Dar unfurled the National Flag and took salute at the march past. Contingents of JKP, JKAP, CRPF, Commandos, Home Guard and School children participated in the march past.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the importance of Republic Day and threw light on the various developmental activities and achievements in various sectors including Education, Agriculture, Horticulture and R&B in the district.
Various colourful and mesmerizing cultural programmes were presented by the artists of Information Department and Youth Services & Sports. The Republic Day celebrations were also held at Sub-Division Tral Awantipora and Tehsil headquarters in the district.
KULGAM: The main function was held at District Police Lines, where Deputy Commissioner Kulgam Dr Shamim Ahmad Wani hoisted the National Flag and took salute at the march past.
Contingents of CRPF, JKP, JKP Ladies Police Group, District Police band, Home Guards, NCC cadets and platoons of boys and girls from different Government and private educational institutions participated in the march past.
In his speech, the DDC highlighted the developmental scenario of district Kulgam.
Later, award ceremony was held in which CRPF bagged first position in March past, and JKP second position. Republic day celebrations were also held at Sub Division D H Pora and at all tehsil headquarters of district Kulgam.
BUDGAM: Deputy Commissioner, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar took salute at march past and unfurled the National Flag at the main function which was held at Sports Stadium Budgam. Contingents of JKP, JKAP, CRPF, Home Guards, NCC and school students participated in the march past parade.
Speaking on the occasion, DC while highlighting the importance of the Republic Day, said that the district administration is committed to the overall development of its people. She said that the Government has sanctioned projects worth Rs 234 crore and shortly these works will be taken up. Further the DC called upon all citizens to coordinate with the administration and contribute in making the district more prosperous and progressive.
On the occasion, awards were given to various employees for their meritorious services. The day was also celebrated with nationalist fervour at Sub division and Tehsil levels of the district.
BANDIPORA: The main function was held at SK Stadium Bandipora where Deputy Commissioner Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary unfurled the National Flag and took salute at the march past presented by the contingents of JKP, JKAP, BSF, CRPF, NCC Cadets and students of various schools.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the DC highlighted the importance of the day and also presented a detailed report on developmental front. He said the recent Municipal and Panchayat elections were a major step towards strengthening the democracy at grass root level that will open a new chapter of development in the State.
While presenting the performance of the district administration during the current financial year so far, Dr Choudhary said 2018-19 will be remembered as a golden period of the district with major projects seeing the light of the day.
Similar functions were also held at Sub-District Level at Sumbal and Gurez besides at Tehsil Headquarters.
ANANTNAG: The main function was held at Government Degree College (Boys) Khanabal, where the chief guest Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag, Mohammad Younis Malik unfurled the Tricolour and took salute at the Parade.
Contingents of 40th Bn CRPF, 11th Bn JKAP, JKP (District Police) DPL Anantnag, District Ladies Police, J&K Home Guards, District Police Band (DPL), NCC cadets, school children from various Govt. and private educational institutions and District Police Band participated in the March Past Parade.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that Indian Constitution has guaranteed rights to its citizens like right to religion, education and right to democracy. He paid homage to the founder of the Indian Constitution Dr B R Ambedkar and said that besides having various cultures, languages and religions every citizen enjoys his/her fundamental rights.
The DC further highlighted the role of various departments taking the district to new heights of the development. He said that under Annual District Plan 2018-19, Rs 199.5 crore were sanctioned and earmarked for various sectors.
Cultural programmes were presented by Information Department, Youth Services & Sports Department, students of Government Schools, Pvt. Schools & CRPF 40th Bn.
GANDERBAL: District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Dr Piyush Singla unfurled the National Flag at Madre Meharban Stadium. He took salute at the march-past, presented by the contingents of JKP, JKAP, IRP, CRPF, PTS Manigam, Home Guards, besides, school children from various educational institutions presented scintillating and colourful cultural items including traditional folk and patriotic songs.
In his address, DDC highlighted various developmental achievements registered by district administration including education, sports, public works and health sector. He said that district Ganderbal has done remarkable work in implementation of schemes like Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, skill development program for girls, Ayushman Bharat and Swatch Bharat Mission with respect to other districts of the State.
The function concluded with distribution of prizes among the parade contingents and students who secured the first, second and third position in their parade and cultural performances.
BARAMULLA: A grand function was organized at District Police Lines here with District Development Commissioner, Dr Nasir Ahmad Naqash as the chief guest. The DDC hoisted the Tricolor, inspected the Parade and took salute at the March Past presented by the contingents of District Police, CRPF, Fire and Emergency Service and School children.
Highlighting the importance of Republic Day, the DDC emphasised on the various aspects of the rapid development of the nation. He enlisted various developmental projects being undertaken in different sectors viz education, health, rural development etc and said that the district has recorded splendid development in these sectors.
The DDC also complimented the services rendered by the officers of district administration and emphasised upon them to work with more enthusiasm in placing district Baramulla at top slot.
Various cultural programmes depicting the cultural diversity and heritage of the state were presented by the groups of school children and Information Department.
A prize distribution ceremony was held, wherein awards were presented to the schools for their best performance in March Pasts and Cultural presentation. Meanwhile, functions in connection with the Republic Day celebration were held across the district at Sub-Divisional and Tehsil levels.
KUPWARA: The main function was held at District Police Lines where District Development Commissioner, Khalid Jahangir hoisted the Tricolor, inspected the Parade and took salute on the March Past presented by the contingents of District Police, CRPF, Fire and Emergency Service and School children.
Highlighting the importance of Republic Day, DDC emphasized on promoting national integration, communal harmony and peace. He also highlighted that district has shown tremendous growth in various sectors viz education, health, horticulture, rural development etc and various schemes have been successfully implemented in the district.

In Handwara Additional Deputy Commissioner hoisted the Tricolor, inspected the Parade and took salute at the March Past presented by the contingents of District Police, CRPF and school children.
SHOPIAN: The Republic Day was celebrated across district with national spirit. The main function was held at District Police Lines where chief guest, Deputy Commissioner Dr Owais Ahmad hoisted Tricolour and took salute of the March past.
Contingents of JKAP, JK Executive Police, JK FPF, Home Guards and Fire & Emergency besides the contingents of students from Government schools took part in the March past.
In his Speech, Dr Owais extended warm wishes to the public of Shopian and also paid rich tributes to the makers of Constitution which lays the foundation of world’s largest democracy. He while hailing the annual turnover of Rs. 1000 crore in horticulture sector in the district said that more schemes and opportunities will be given to the orchardists for the development of horticulture sector. He said more than 90 percent of people in district are directly dependent on horticulture sector and Government is committed to nourish this sector with more facilities and schemes to the orchardists.
The Deputy Commissioner felicitated outstanding youth in the field of education and sports. He also felicitated officers and officials of different departments for their outstanding performance especially during the winter.
