JAMMU, Apr 30: The Model Institute of Engineering and Technology and the MIER College of Education, flagship institutions under the MIER Group, today organized the sixth edition of the Research Awards at MIET campus.
The Research Awards are a unique initiative by the MIER Group to encourage research by providing financial incentives and recognition to faculty members for producing quality research output. Prof Jigar Mohammed, Dean Research Studies, University of Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion, while Dr Arun K Gupta, Chairman, MIER Group, presided over the function.
Twenty-two faculty members from MIET were felicitated and provided cash incentives for producing over 50 research papers in international journals and conferences and filing 6 patents, while twelve faculty members from MIER College of Education were felicitated at the event for publishing 30 research papers at various prestigious fora. Till date MIET has produced over 350 research papers including 220 at international journals and conferences, filed 12 patents, incubated one IT product, created one analytics portal and developed 3 mobile applications. The MIER College of Education has produced over 200 research papers since inception, a significant achievement which was appreciated by the chief guest and the dignitaries on the occasion.
Prof S K Sharma, Director Academics, MIET, described the Research Awards as instrumental in boosting the research output at the MIER Group. Prof Ankur Gupta, Director, MIET, presented the research report of MIET and pointed out that MIET faculty has received over 1100 citations to their research work as calculated on Google Scholar and over 50 research papers were indexed in SCI/SCIE (Thomson Reuters) and Scopus (Elsevier), the most reputed indexing services in the world. Prof Adit Gupta, Joint Director, MIER, presented the research report of the MIER College of Education.
Prof Jigar Mohammed described MIER as a leader and an example for private institutions in the State of J&K in research and academic excellence.
Chairman MIER, Dr Arun K Gupta, outlined the future vision for research focusing on innovation, addressing research issues in the local context of J&K and conducting research which was relevant and impactful.
