Researchers will be largely benefited: VC

SRINAGAR, Oct 19: Kashmir University today organised an interactive session with the participants of the proposed 3-day ‘International Workshop on Optimization Techniques & Software’ organized by Department of Statistics University of Kashmir and Operational Research Society of India (ORSI) which will begin from 21st October at Kashmir University.
Vice Chancellor University of Kashmir Prof Talat Ahmad expressed happiness the way delegates from across the world have arrived to participate in the conference. Vice Chancellor Central University of Kashmir Prof Abdul Wahid Qureshi was the chief guest on the occasion.
Stressing on the importance of statistical and mathematical tools in research Vice Chancellor University of Kashmir Prof Talat Ahmad said in his address “I have been always pointing out that a teaching program/course on research methodology based on the implementation of statistical and mathematical tools should be made mandatory for all research scholars” Prof Talat said that such workshops provide a hands-on experience to the participants and help them a great deal in understanding and realizing the significance of modern-day optimization techniques and software in research and other academic pursuits.
Terming optimization techniques and software as bedrock of modern -day research Vice Chancellor Central University of Kashmir Prof Abdul Wahid Qureshi underscored the significance of statistical tools and methods in research so as to get the desired/best possible results.
Prof Wahid who was chief guest on the occasion said “The implementation of optimization techniques and software has made research based on the use of statistical tools highly significant and data-rich in today`s competitive world and it is but natural rather imperative for academicians and young research scholars to participate in such workshops and discourses which are aimed at nourishing their research skills and for necessary up gradation of the skill set.”
Prof Sundaravalli Narayanaswami from IIM, Truchi who was guest of honor on the occasion said that she is looking forward for more such academic collaborations with the University of Kashmir and hoped that the present 3-day workshop which includes sessions on optimization techniques and software will prove highly beneficial for the participants.
