JAMMU, Oct 26: The people of Bahu Fort led by Sham Lal Basson, JMC Councillor of Ward number 48 and representatives of different organisations expressed resentment against stopping the pensions for widows, physically disabled and old age persons.
Addressing a press conference here today Basson said that different camps were organised to complete the formalities like preparation of income certificates, age certificates, widow-non remarriage certificates, preparations of PHH Ration Cards etc but still 95 per cent of the completed forms were rejected by the Directorate of Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution. Roshan Bhan, chief organiser Confederation of Physically Challenged Organisations; Sushil Sharma, chairman All J&K Disable Welfare Trust and Rajeev Raina from Disabled Care Foundation demanded immediate resumption of pension for widows, physically disabled and old age persons.
It is pertinent to mention here that J&K LG while addressing ‘Pensioners Sammelan’ at Srinagar had claimed that it was their moral duty to care elderly and provide them social security and extend all support to vulnerable sections.
Sham Lal said that organising camps without making amendments in Order No. 156 of 2022 of SWD to exclude the condition of PHH Ration Card will be of no use.
He said that as per the Order of SWD new rules under integrated Social Security Scheme have been framed wherein for the purpose of availing financial assistance PHH/AAY Ration Cards were made mandatory for existing beneficiaries also.
“We are happy that 44,000 elderly, widows and divorcees have been covered in Srinagar but there was no of such case from Jammu city,” Lal maintained.
