Reservation of Basohli MC wards

Sir,
In the democratic countries the reservations during the elections are always aimed at providing equal opportunities to all sections of society to send their representatives in the LAs, LCs, Parliament and the local bodies. The reservations have always paved way for providing social justice to the society, but when theses reservations are made for reservation sake or without doing any mental exercise it tantamounts to injustice to the society. It is pertinent to mention here the confused way the reservation of the wards of municipal committee Basohli town are made without applying even a bit of mind by the electioneering agencies.
According to the new reservation scheme, 90 percent SC dominated 9 and 13 ward numbers of Basohli town have been declared open for the general category population, whereas the 95 percent general catagory dominated ward numbers 8,11 and 12 have been declared as the reserved for the SC community. The results of such reservations will definitely prove reverse of what it is thought of or aimed at. It is the apprehension rather belief of every Basohlite that the SC dominated ward numbers 9 and 13, though declared open, will again prefer electing SC councilors whereas the general category dominated ward numbers 8,11 and 12 , now declared reserved, will be bound to pitch the SC candidates. Under the present scheme of reservation Basohli town will be electing 5 SC councilors instead of the 3. It is a brazen injustice with the general category population of the town because out of total 13 wards of the town 3 wards are reserved for women and 5 automatically for the SC. Under such circumstances only 5 wards will be left for the male members from the general category. It is therefore requested to review the reservation orders and do justice with the open category section of society. The electioneering agencies should apply their minds before taking such important decisions linked with the development of the towns.
