Reservation Bill to provide due reservation to OBCs: Prajapathi

JAMMU, Dec 13: Previous Governments led by NC, Congress and PDP looted the rights of OBC category and provided only 2% reservation to a large population of the community, but now Modi Government brought ‘J&K Reservation Bill 2023’ to provide due reservation to OBCs, said Sunil Prajapati president, OBC Morcha, J&K BJP.
Prajapati, accompanied by national secretary OBC Morcha, Rash Pal Verma, Prabhari OBC Morcha, Brahmjyot Satti and its other senior leaders, at a press conference here, today welcomed the decision of Modi Government decision to implement OBC Reservation in J&K UT.
He said this replaced Weak and Under Privileged Classes (Social Caste)/OSC through J&K Reservation (Amendment) Bill passed by both the houses of the Parliament.
Prajapati also extended gratitude to the Prime Minister, Home Minister for this historical decision to implement OBC reservation in J&K UT, for which the OBC community has been struggling for the last three decades. He said that the earlier Governments in J&K did not consider the demands of the OBCs but continue to provide a major share of OBC reservation to the non-OBC communities.
“The previous Governments led by NC, Congress and PDP have provided only 2% reservation to a large population of OBC community and 23% reservation out 27% reservation meant for OBC category was shifted to other categories created under the provisions of Article 370 and Constitution of J&K”, said Prajapati.
Prajapati stated that it is the great moment for the OBCs of J&K to celebrate with joy and happiness. He extended gratitude to the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah for fulfilling long outstanding demand of OBCs of J&K.
With the change in the nomenclature, now the ways for the OBCs have also been opened for reservation in elections of the Municipalities and Panchayats as available for OBCs under the Constitutional provisions, he said.
He said OBCs have got all these benefits only with the abrogation of Article 370 and implementation of Reorganization Act.
Prajapati also appealed to the Union Government and the Lieutenant Governor to withheld unadvertised and unfilled vacancies in the J&K UT and readvertise once the J&K Reservation Act 2023, duly amended is implemented.
