Reserved category members take out protest rally

UDHAMPUR,  June 5:  Lambasting State Government for paying no heed to the issue of reservation in promotions, the members of all socio-religious organizations from reserved categories and Jammu Kashmir Reserve Categories Employees (JKRCEA)  jointly held protest rally here today.
They were demanding restoration of reservation in promotions for the employees of Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC) and other categories. The rally started from Guru Ravi Dass Mandir, Udhampur  and culminated at DC office complex, by submitting memorandum to Chief Minister through Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur.
Heads of various organizations of reserve categories including  Dr Sanjay Bhasin,  president of JKCEA,  Bodh Raj Bhagat, Sham Lal Basson, Mohinder Bhagat, PK Chouhan  were leading.  The members of reserve categories castigated the State Government and its machinery for its  sheer non-seriousness towards this issue of grave socio-political importance. They alleged that the faith of reserved categories which they staked at Government seems fading as Govt is not defending its own Act before the Apex Court whereas the other private respondents have filed scores of SLPs.
Bodh Raj Bhagat,  from All India Bhagat Mahasabha stressed upon the Government to bring viable solution of reservation in promotion for reserved categories of J&K which is their constitutional right in view of their socio-educational & economic conditions in comparison general catgeories. He reminded Ms  Mehbooba of the promise of visionary leader Late Mufti Sahib who wanted to come up with the solution after involving  MLAs across all political parties during Assembly.
Ashok Kumar, president JKRCEA Udhampur district urged the Government to act quickly on this sensitive issue. He also demanded that enforcement board meeting on monitoring & implementation of reservation as per Reservation Act should be convened immediately under the chairmanship of Chief Minister calling intellectuals from civil society to come out with exact data how much reservation has been implemented and what are the areas that require further attention of the Government.
