Resident Docs of SKIMS to go on strike from tomorrow

SRINAGAR, July 14: The Resident Doctors of Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences and Technology (SKIMS) Soura today threatened to go on indefinite strike from Monday (July 16) in case no action was taken against the employees of the Institute who beat up two resident doctors on Friday.
In a statement issued here, a spokesman of RDA while quoting its President said that two doctors namely Dr Imran Bhat, Post Graduate, Department of Anesthesiology and Dr Arafat were beaten up by two employees namely Ghulam Rasool and Javed Ahmad. The spokesman said that Dr Imran suffered serious head injury and he has been admitted in Accident and Emergency of the Neurosurgery department.
The spokesman lamented that Director-SKIMS, Dr Showkat Ali Zargar, did not take any action against the employees despite being informed about the incident. He said if no action is taken by Monday morning against the employees, the resident doctors would go on an indefinite strike from the forenoon on July 16.
He said such incidents should not occur in the Institute adding that issues of resident doctors need to be addressed.
