Residential house gutted

RAMBAN, Dec 6: A two-storey residential house was gutted in a devastating fire that broke out on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday in Chakka, Sarbagni area of Ramsoo in Ramban district.
Official sources said that a fire broke out in the house of Abdul Latif Wani and engulfed the whole structure.
There was no loss of life but property worth lakhs of rupees was destroyed.
According to family sources, fire appeared abruptly late last night in one of the rooms of the upper story and spread to the whole structure within minutes.
Due to no road connectivity fire tenders and Jawans of Fire and Emergency Services could not be called by the locals.
After listening cries the neighbors reached the spot and tried to douse flames by pouring water but enormity of flames proved their effort futile.
According to sources the family members who were in deep sleep escaped unhurt but everything including household items, jewellery, cash etc was destroyed.
Around 16 family members of three families were residing in the two-storey residential house which caught fire.
Later in the morning, a team of revenue officials visited the spot for investigation.
The affected families were provided tents, blankets and other household items by district administration Ramban.
