BHADARWAH, July 19: Residential house belonging to a tribal Gujjar family was gutted here today at Bhooru village.
Officials said that house of one Abdul Gani caught fire mysteriously when the entire family was at Jaie Ghati with their cattle for summer grazing.
On seeing flames the villagers raised an alarm following which fire tenders rushed from Bhadarwah but it took nearly one hour for them to start the operation and till then the entire residential structure and the things kept inside were reduced to ashes.
Abdul Gani and his family who were at Jaie came to know about the incident in the afternoon due to poor mobile network at Jaie.
Gani claimed some foul play by some miscreants and informed that power was disconnected at his house three months back and the house was locked for the last 15 days so there is no chance of short circuit or catching fire due to cooking of food.
“Someone has deliberately set our house ablaze,” he claimed pleading for help as they are left with no shelter and nothing to start a life afresh.
Meanwhile, District administration Doda has assured immediate help from Red Cross Society and SDRF.
Rashtriya Rifles unit based at Bhadarwah and 159 Dogra of Territorial Army has also extended help to the tribal family.
Meanwhile, Police is collecting the evidence and has started investigation into the matter.
