Srinagar, Nov 18: Residents of Gogji Bagh area of Srinagar today said that the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) has failed to take action against a person who has constructed a commercial building in the residence area illegally.
The owner has managed to complete the structure of a commercial building for which there was residential permission.
The SMC had issued an order vide number 3439of 2018 dated 27/11/2018 in favour of Habibullah and Rashid Anwar allowing the construction of two-storied two residential houses at Gogji Bagh Srinagar, however, the owner resorted to violations and later managed to get an amended order converting the residential order into commercial.
The locals said that the owner violated the order and constructed a commercial structure after he got an amended order from SMC under number 299-of 2019 dated 11/10/2019.
They said that the building is almost complete and for the last two years work has stopped but the SMC has failed to demolish the structure. They said that the owner is trying to get the issue resolved.
The residents have appealed to the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to take action against the officials who have allowed construction of the structure and urged him to get it demolished.
