Residents appeal to JMC Commissioner

JAMMU, Feb 21: Alleging that residents of Roop Nagar Enclave, Lane No 2, Block A, Ward No 64 are facing unhygienic conditions due to casual attitude of Safaiwalas, Roop Nagar Welfare Committee has appealed Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) to ensure regular cleanliness in the area.
Coordinator of the Welfare Committee, RK Wali, said that despite repeated requests made to Health Officer and Sanitary Inspector, no action was taken to solve the matter.
He said the condition of the area is so bad that foul smell is spreading all around the colony. There is every apprehension that epidemic may break out in the area, as wastage or garbage of households is being dumped in various vacant plots and the same has been accumulated in heaps, he added.
The Committee requested the concerned authorities to ensure cleanliness on daily basis in the area, lift heaps of garbage dumped in vacant plots and install a dustbin in the area.
