Residents demand construction of concrete bridge over nallah

DODA, Apr 13: Despite loss of precious lives, the district administration has failed to construct a concrete bridge over a nallah here, which has also irked the residents.
A large number of residents of village Bhotali in Tehsil Chilly Pingal assembled near their village and held protest.
Amid slogans against the district administration, the protestors demanded construction of concrete bridge over Bali Wali Gali nallah to avoid loss of precious lives.
“Over the years, many people had lost their lives in unfortunate incidents while crossing this overflowing wooden bridge during heavy rains”, the residents said, adding that since Independence, they are demanding construction of the concrete bridge, but nothing has been done till today.
“More than one dozen people had lost their precious lives since past one year while crossing this wooden bridge over Bali Wali Gali nallah”, they informed.
The residents lamented that the concerned department remained mum over the construction of permanent concrete bridge, which resulted into loss of precious lives.
While talking to the EXCELSIOR, Makhu Begum Chairperson of Block Chilly Pingal said that they met Lieutenant Governor regarding the construction of concrete bridge over Bali Wali Gali nallah around three months back, but nothing has been done till today.
She said that the construction of bridge over the nallah was the responsibility of district administration but it failed to do the needful for the people.
A social worker Abgul Gani demanded construction of concrete bridge over Bali Wali Gali nallah so as to avoid loss of precious lives.
“We lodged several complaints with the concerned department but they always turned deaf ears to our pleas,” said a local resident.
When contacted DCC Doda Dr. Sagar D Doifode assured that the bridge will be constructed temporary in the shortest possible time so as to avoid loss of precious lives.
“Rural Development Department (RDD) will be directed to construct the bridge under MGNREGA scheme”, he assured.
