RAJOURI, June 5: Public Health Engineering Department Rajouri seems unmoved over the problem of people living in Thandi Kassi and its surrounding areas where water supply remained affected for the past two weeks.
Locals of the area informed that no water has been pumped from main station of Thandi Kassi for last two weeks and water supply in villages including Mankote, Sadyal, Thandi Kassi, Patrari and others remained affected.
“Population of more than four thousand humans have been affected as they are left with no other option than to move to natural water sources to fetch water and some people even have to move by over two kilometers to fetch water”, Sumit Bhargav, a local resident of the area said.
Other locals namely Yougesh Sasan, Narinder Kumar Sharma and Shafiq Ahmed said that concerned officials of PHE Department were apprised about the issue various times and they have only one excuse that water pump of Thandi Kassi station is faulty and has been sent for repairing.
The residents warned to stage protest and lock down PHE station if water supply is not restored within a couple of days.
They also urged the district administration to intervene in the matter.
