RAMBAN, Apr 18: The resident of Batote held protest against the Power Development Department (PDD) and Jal Shakti Department for not providing uninterrupted electric and water supply.
A large number of people assembled in Bhaderwah road chowk near Batote and held a strong protest demonstration against PDD and Jal Shakti Department Batote. They also burnt tyres on the road and raised slogans against the PDD and Jal Shakti Department.
The protesters alleged that PDD and Jal Shakti Departments have miserably failed in keeping assurance commitment with the people of providing uninterrupted power and electric supply to the consumers during the ongoing month of Ramadan.
They alleged that PDD is imposing unscheduled and long duration power cuts at the time of Sehri and Iftyar.
“We raised this issue with the concerned authorities but no action has been taken by them till today, which forced us to come on road”, they added.
They have appealed to the Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Massarat Islam to intervene into the matter so that people may not suffer for the want of electric and water supply in the ongoing holy month of Ramadan.
