JAMMU, June 9: The irate residents of Kaluchak today held a demonstration and blocked the Jammu Pathankot National Highway in protest against the water scarcity in the area.
The protestors including men, women and children shouted slogans against the PHE Department for their failure in restoring water supply to Kaluchak and adjoining areas.
They said that water scarcity has added to the problems of the people in these hot days when mercury has touched the peak. They accused the PHE Department of being totally callous towards them as despite repeated pleas, the authorities did not bother to solve the problem.
The protestors burnt tubes on the road to disturb the movement of vehicular traffic. Later they dispersed on the assurance of authorities.
