JAMMU, May 16: Resi-dents of adjoining areas of Mubarak Mandi held a protest demonstration against installation of gates at the entry point of the heritage complex.
The residents of adjoining areas of Mubarak Mandi including Panjtirthi, Pakki Dakki, Chogan Salathia, Chowk Chabutra, Jullaka Mohalla and other localities assembled at Mubarak Mandi today and held protest against the arbitrary decision of the concerned authorities to install gates at Mubarak Mandi.
Addressing the demonstrators, Rajinder Kumar and Balbir Singh, residents of nearby areas of Mubarak Mandi, alleged that the concerned authorities didn’t took them into confidence before starting work for installation of gates at Mubarak Mandi.
They said that thousands of people of adjoining areas have been affected with installation of gates at Mubarak Mandi as a large number of morning and evening walkers use to visit the complex daily while the residents also use to move from one side to the other side of the complex.
In his address, Vikram Malhotra, general secretary, J&K Pradesh Congress Committee, assured the protestors that he would take up this issue with the concerned authorities and try to make it ensure that the affected residents of adjoining areas of Mubarak Mandi are consulted and taken into confidence by the authorities before implementing the decision.
He also stressed upon the concerned authorities to address the concern of the affected people at the earliest.
Prominent among those took part in the protest demonstration included Balbir Singh, Anand Gandotra, Mr Kohli, Mr Gourav,  Mr Badu, Ms Rani, Antim Rathore, Meenakshi Arora and Swarn Kanta.
