Residents of Barnai, TRT Nagrota face acute water scarcity

JAMMU, June 5: The inhabitants of Anuradha Puram Sector 1 and Two and adjoining areas of Barnai are facing acute shortage of drinking water for since last fortnight.
The residents said that despite making repeated pleas to officials of Jal Shakti Department no steps are being taken to improve water supply. They said the problem occurred after the motor at tube was replaced by the Department officials with a low capacity motor over a fortnight back which failed to cater to the growing public demand in this hot summer.
They said the water supply remains off for days together as the motor fails to fill up the overhead tank with the result the water supply gets hampered.
BJP district president Jammu Rural, Omi Khajuria has made an appeal to Chief Engineer, Jal Shakti seeking his immediate intervention in the matter. He said the water crisis in this hot Summer has added to the woes of people and authorities should take immediate steps in installing a high capacity motor at Barnai tube well.
Meanwhile the inmates of Nagrota TRT have also drawn the attention of Jal Shakti authorities towards the water scarcity problem faced by them. Chand Ji a camp inmate said that water crisis have put the camp inmates to many hardships in this scorching Summer heat and people are forced to purchase the water tankers for their daily use on exorbitant rates.
He also appealed the higher ups in the Department to look into the matter and solve this pressing demand of people without further delay failing which the camp inmates will be force to take to streets.
