PURMANDAL, July 13: The residents of Village Sangar (Purmandal) in district Samba are facing lot of difficulties owing to poor road and has demanded proper road network in their area.
In a hand out issued, the villagers alleged that the concerned authorities have failed to repair the road.
“The Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) was launched by the Govt. of India to provide connectivity to unconnected Habitations as part of a poverty reduction strategy, but in their village there is no road project sanctioned under this scheme as the result the people are suffering badly in this village,” they said.
Sangar village is located in Samba district in Jammu & Kashmir and is situated 25 km away from Samba, which is both district & sub-district headquarter of Sangar village.
As per 2009 stats, Purmandal is the gram panchayat of Sangar village. The village Sangar links both Purmandal (Chota Kashi) and Utterbehani, but there is no road link, since years. The residents of village are facing lot of problems due to the poor road connectivity.
“Despite the fact, the road connectivity comes under Road and Building (R&B) Department of Samba but it hardly seems serious about the plight of the people,” said Pritam Singh, a local resident of the area.
“We have raised the issue with concerned authorities many a times and even have staged protest demanding the black-toping of road but all in vein. The authorities are least bothered about the problems which are being faced by us, due to non-availability of the roads here,” he said.
The road stretch from Purmandal via Sangar to Utterbehni is in utterly bad shape having potholes and streams of boulders and offers a dusty ride. Agitated over callous approach of concerned authorities, the villagers said that concern Department has failed to maintain the road reasons better known to the officials at the helms of affairs.
“It is only the polling time when several of leaders of different parties come to these remote villages and dole false assurances to the people but once they get elected they never turned to us,” they said.
“With each passing day, the world is witnessing modernisation but nothing has changed in our Village Sangar (Purmandal) Tehsil and District Samba. We are forced to live the conventional life like our forefathers,” they maintained.
