JAMMU, Jan 23: The residents of villages Budhi, Joura Kalan and Lower Shamdlian representing minority community held a meeting under the chairmanship of president of Thathri Development Front, Kuldeep Kumar Rao.
During the meeting, the residents have sought immediate intervention of Governor NN Vohra regarding Kahara-Jai road project dispute in Tehsil Thathri, District Doda, which arose in 2009 and is yet unsettled.
While speaking, Rao stated that an inquiry committee headed by Divisional Commissioner Jammu was constituted by the Chief Secretary in 2012 but the members of the committee never visited the site personally and submitted report to higher authorities which was prepared by the lower level officers of R&B, PMGSY and Forest Department, who had originally committed the irregularities and against whom the public had complained.
He added that there is a big fraud in Kahara-Jai road project and needs immediate inquiry through Vigilance Department or CBI.
The poor villagers fervently hoped to get justice from Governor, as the previous Government could not do so in its tenure, he said.
