JAMMU, Jan 17: The residents of Ward No 58, Roop Nagar Digiana staged a protest against the Power Development Department (PDD) for plunging the area into darkness for past over two days.
Hundreds of people including women took to streets and accused the PDD of inordinate delay in repairing a damaged transformer.
“We have been demanding replacement of damaged transformer in the locality to overcome the crisis”, a resident of the area said.
Academic as well as competitive exams of the students are overhead. People are seen shivering in the cold and whole area plunges into darkness, but ironically, the PDD authorities are using dilly-dallying tactics to install the transformer”, they alleged.
They added that inaction of the PDD has forced them to take to streets.
