Residents protest, demand concrete steps to repair highway

KISHTWAR, Apr 28: The residents held protest here today and demanded concrete steps to get the Batote-Doda-Kishtwar highway repaired.
Amid slogans, the residents under the banner of Kishtwar Co-ordination Committee assembled at Om Mehta road near old DC Office complex and staged sit in protest.
The protesting people including locals and leaders of social and political organizations demanded concrete steps to get the Batote-Doda-Kishtwar highway especially at Kuligad near Drabshalla repaired for all time weather.
“We are facing problems due to the closure of the highway and Government should take serious steps to get the highway repaired for all time weather for the convenience of the masses”, they added.
They also raised issues of non-availability of food grains at Government depots and other local issues.
Meanwhile, Batote-Kishtwar highway will remain closed tomorrow from 11 am to 5 pm at Kuligad to carry out scaling of loose debris.
