Residents protest over pathetic condition of road

BHADERWAH, June 5: The residents of Manthala area held protest and blocked the Jai-Bhaderwah-University link road for one hour to draw the attention of the authorities towards the pathetic condition of the Manthala-Bhaderwah road for the past 25 years.
The protesters including women and students assembled at the historical Seri Bazaar and raised slogans against the authorities for their “failure” to repair the damaged road.
“Since 1995, locals have been facing a lot of problems due to bad condition of the road but nothing has been done so far despite repeated requests”, said Sangeeta Devi a class 12th student and resident of Mantahala said.
Various girl students participating in the protest alleged that they are being harassed by the drivers of the passenger vehicles plying on Manthala route and demanded SRTC bus service.
MLA Bhaderwah Daleep Singh Parihar along with SDPO Bhaderwah Birjesh Sharma reached the spot and pacified the protesters. MLA assured that he will try to resolve their issues with the help of the officials concerned.
On the assurance, the protestors dispersed and vehicular movement was restored.
