REASI, Oct 2: The growing menace of high-decibel motorbikes equipped with modified silencers has become a source of concern for residents and shopkeepers in Reasi town.
The continuous disturbance caused by these bikes, particularly during school time, has led the local community particularly shopkeepers to demand swift action from the authorities.
Residents have voiced their frustration, citing how the noise from these bikes affecting daily life, with children, the elderly, and students preparing for exams bearing the brunt. Shopkeepers in the market area have also complained about the nuisance created by these high-sound bikes, which disrupts the peaceful atmosphere of the area and drives away customers.
“We are unable to concentrate on our work, and the noise makes it difficult for customers to enjoy a peaceful shopping experience,” said one local shopkeeper. Another resident added, “The authorities must take action. These modified silencers are not just annoying; they violate the law and endanger public health.”
The shopkeepers have urged district administration to strictly enforce regulations and take immediate steps to curtail this issue, which is negatively impacting both their health and business.
