JAMMU, Feb 27: The residents of various villages met Deputy Commissioner Jammu and apprised him about the problems being faced by them.
The people of villages Kanyal, Kahpota, Madeen, Jandrah, Nagola and Ponthel led by senior BSP leader Rakesh Wazir met Deputy Commissioner, Jammu who was accompanied by Commandant 15 FAD Colonel GS Dhillon and submitted a memorandum besides elaborating in detail about the problems being faced by the arbitrary orders which prohibits the villagers from doing any repair, construction and modification within 1 kilometer area of the 15 Ammunition Depot Kanyala in their own lands even without giving them any compensation or without rehabilitating them.
He asked for the intervention of the administration at the earliest in the matter and even revocation of the order issued by the earlier District Magistrate which empowers Ammunition Depot people to stop or even demolish the construction of anyone within 1 kilometer of radius of Ammunition Depot which is unjustified and unlawful.
He said that at the time of taking of lands it was assured that locals would be provided employment in the depot and now even labourers are taken from outside the State which is matter of great concern.
Wazir said that Army is dictating terms to the owners of the lands. He asked the administration to redress this problem at the earliest.
Deputy Commissioner listened the delegation patiently and assured that a committee will be framed comprising of villagers of concerned villages and officers which may give suggestions for the redressal of the matter.
Among others present were Tehsildar, BDO Dansal, BJP leader Nand Kishore Sharma, Captain Shiv Lal Dhingra, Bishan Dass, Karan Dutt and sarpanches namely Pritam Singh, Mohan Lal Mengi, Raghubir Singh, Mohan Singh and Sadiq Mohammad.
