Residents threaten protest over failure of power supply

JAMMU, July 9: Irate over the snapping of power supply due to frequent breakdown of power transformer, residents of R K Vihar Udheywala near Rama Krishan Mission today threatened the administration of a strong protest demonstration.
The residents said due to the breakdown of the frequent power transformer despite assurances by the concerned PDD officials, the regular power could not be restored, till date.
“We are passing sleepless nights due to snapping of power supply regularly. The position of old, infirm and children is worst as they can’t resist the scorching heat”, they added.
They accused the PDD authorities of not replacing the heavy duty transformer despite many pleas and warned to hold a strong protest in case the new transformer was not installed immediately.
Power fluctuations, repeated cuts and regular trips during day and night has put the electronic machines such as Air Conditioners and refrigerators at the risk of being damaged any time.
Hence, Power Development Deptt authorities are requested to work on war footing by utilizing all possible resources to ensure the regular power supply to give respite to its consumers who face the harsh climatic conditions, they added.
