SRINAGAR, Nov 11: Legislative Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather today said that the resolution for the restoration of the special status passed in the Assembly has been sent to the concerned authorities.

The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on August 5 passed a resolution seeking dialogue for “restoration of special status and Constitutional guarantees” and urging that “Constitutional mechanisms” be worked out for the same. The resolution was passed by a voice vote, with all parties barring the BJP supporting it.
“We have forwarded the resolution on the same day it was passed in the Assembly to the concerned authorities”, Rather told media persons in Srinagar on Monday.
He asked the media persons to talk to the political parties in this matter saying “I am a non-aligned person and have no concern with any political party”.
Asked that since the new Government assumes office in Jammu and Kashmir, encounters are taking place, Rather said “the law and order is not a state subject. Law and order and Police are being looked after by the Central Government”, he said.
He said Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has conveyed to the law and order machinery to beef up the security grid to stop such incidents.
