SAMBA, May 16: Birpur Small Scale Industries Association (BSSIA), has urged the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to resolve the pending issues of the industrial units of Birpur in Samba district.
In a meeting of the BSSIA held under the leadership of its president, S C Dutta, in presence of Ankur Jain-senior vice president, Vinod Sharma–vice president, Deepak Gujral- general secretary, Indresh Badyal-secretary, Munish Sharma–treasurer and others, the members discussed the plight of the existing working units, who are suffering badly on account of many pending issues, with the Industries and Finance department. It is amazing that despite repeated requests, no action has been taken by the J&K UT Government, they said.
The Association members appealed to the Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha for his immediate intervention to resolve the pending issues of the Industrial units.
They pointed out that the fiscal incentives for the working Industrial units as in April 2021 has been reduced to 50% in comparison to post GST regime and as per the details of figures, the total amount of fiscal incentives was granted to the Industrial units by the UT Govt prior to July 8, 2017 was to the tune of Rs 1000 crores, which included Rs 600 crores as VAT regime, Rs 200 crores as incentives in Interstate sales and Rs 200 crores as Toll Tax exemption, whereas, the fiscal incentives in 2021 has been reduced to Rs 500 crores.
This way the existing units will not be able to compete with the outside suppliers due to locational disadvantage, non-availability of raw material, resulting higher cost of production after the removal of Toll Tax. The incentives of 2021-22 have not yet paid to the Industrialists. Under such circumstances, the survival of the existing units is very hard. They sought intervention of the LG’s administration.
