MUMBAI, June 16: Senior BJP leader and former Dy CM of J&K, Kavinder Gupta here today stated that sustainable development ushers comprehensive and interconnected strategy for economic, social and environmental growth.
He was speaking on the second day of three days National Legislators’ Conference (NLC) in Mumbai where he was chairman of the session for today and was speaking on the topic ‘Instruments & Impact of Sustainable Development’.
He said that sustainable development necessitates the cooperation and involvement of multiple interest groups such as governments, non-governmental organizations, corporations and individuals at all echelons to establish a more sustainable tomorrow.
Gupta said that it’s the responsibility of all policymakers, including legislators, to work towards creating a better future for all.
After this, Dr. Khader Vali, renowned and independent scientist and Prof. Lawrence Pratchett, Faculty of Business, University of Canberra, Austria, also spoke on the occasion.
Dr. Khader Vali, who is also known as ‘Millet Man of India’, stressed on using millets as staple food, which traditionally was the main entity of main course of Indian society but with passage of time and in race to ape the west, it was deleted from the diet chart.
He highlighted the importance of switching over to millets claiming that the same will help boost the economy.
Rajinder Singh, Waterman of India and Padam Shri Kartik Sarabhai, environmentalist also raised many significant points with regard to sustainable development.
After this Chairman NLC along with dignitaries felicitated Kavinder Gupta for chairing the session.
