Restore 4G for benefit of masses: Ch Lal Singh

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Apr 19: Ch Lal Singh today appealed to the Lt Governor, G C Murmu to intervene personally into the matter of the restoration of 4G networks in Jammu as early as possible.
He expressed serious concern over the non restoration of the high speed internet in J&K UT. He said that he is receiving number of phone calls daily on the issue and students are facing lot of problem in particular. The people of the UT have failed to understand the rationale behind restrictions imposed upon restricted use of internet facility when the entire security situation seems to be under control.
He said the repeated sermons of the Prime Minister on Digital India become useless in Jammu and Kashmir in present context of COVID-19. The use of the internet has already been described by the Supreme Court as a Constitutional right of citizens. The students of the J&K are the worst sufferers because of this restriction. The Government has just failed to analyze the difficulties and immense losses caused to different sections of society which had been dependent on high speed internet.
He further stated that why the people of the Jammu and Kashmir are paying for the 4G internet recharges and in turn they are getting only peanuts. The internet facility has been stopped for the last 8-9 months and can the Government tell us the benefits of this? What is the fate of online classes for students announced in most of the schools and universities? He added that the facility of the 4G internet should be restored as early as possible in order to protect the sentiments of the people of UT. It is very strange that the present regime is refusing to honour the directions of the Apex Court, he added.
