Restore bus-service over Birma steel bridges: Magotra

UDHAMPUR, Apr 28: People of Garhi- Rehmbal area of Udhampur under the leadership of senior Congress leader Sumeet Magotra gathered near Birma bridge and expressed serious concern over suspension of bus service over two temporary steel bridges raised by Army.
In this occasion Magotra expressed that about two years back Birma bridge was declared unsafe due to some cracks developed on its slab resulting administration closed traffic over this bridge and constructed two temporary bridges over Birma Nallah for smooth traffic. This route covers about 50 villages in the district besides Jammu, Katra, Reasi, Lander and Panchari area.
He further said that traffic was smoothly running over new constructed temporary steel bridges but administration has stopped the movement of buses of above mentioned routes resulting the people of said areas are facing inconvenience for bus services.
Magotra also disclosed that about six months back DDC Chairman kick started the construction of Birma bridge and promised that construction work of the bridge shall be completed within a period of one year but now construction work is suspended for the reason best known to the authorities concerned.
Congress leader has given an ultimatum to the District Administration to restore traffic of Jammu, Katra, Reasi area over the iron bridges within a period of one week otherwise people will initiate demonstration against District Administration.
On this occasion Garhi Vyopar Mandal president Dr Bhatti, Rajesh, Barber Association president Ashok Kumar, Bansi Lal and Amreek Singh have also appealed the District Administration to restore the bus services over iron bridges to avoid the inconvenience of the public.
