JAMMU, June 23: Expressing his grave concern over the loss of property and Government infrastructure especially highways in the rains and snow that caused havoc during the last two days, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K Executive Member, Raman Suri today urged the Government to immediately press men and machinery of concerned departments into service and restore the National Highway for smooth flow of traffic besides, assess the loss suffered by people and compensate them accordingly.
He also asked all the insurance companies to press their surveyors into action and immediately settle claims of truckers, who have suffered maximum loss on highways at Jammu-Srinagar links and on Mughal road. Landslides at many places have swept away trucks and cars and also caused excessive damages to the people. These people, he said, need to be compensated at the earliest. At several places in the Kashmir floods have created havoc and all the concerned departments must be asked to immediately restore all the services so that people could get back to their normal routines.

Those stranded must be helped by all means, he said, adding that as the weather has now improved, the restoration work must be expedited.
Raman Suri lauded the prompt action of the Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police, whose jawans and officers saved many lives at Sinthan Pass, Tral, Zojila, Bandipora and many places in Rajouri and Poonch where even the truckers have been provided with minimum required facilities including shelter.
