JAMMU, Dec 13: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) president, Subash Shastri today urged upon the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo to enhance Medical allowance of J&K pensioners from Rs 300 to Rs 1000 per month as the same has already been provided by the Central Government to its pensioners.
Addressing media persons, Shastri said that medical allowance is Rs 300 from the last two decades and emphasized upon its increase for the welfare of employees and pensioners.
While welcoming the decision of UT J&K Govt in releasing 4% DA due from July last, Shastri described it as employees pensioners friendly decision. He said it was a long pending demand which was being presented by NMC time to time. It is matter of great pleasure for us that our demand has been fulfilled by the UT J&K Govt.
Shastri also urged the Prime Minister to appoint chairman and other members of the 8th Pay Commission and take decision at the earliest and start discussion with representatives of both Central and State Governments employees and pensioners, organizations, adding that the appointment of 8th Pay Commission will end confusion and uncertainty among the employees and pensioners on this issue once for all.
Stressing on the need Shastri also urged him to immediately restore old pension scheme in place of NPS as confidence building measures. He said that many states like Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Karnataka and Sikkim have restored old pension scheme in favour of NPS Employees. He hoped that the NDA Government will take positive step in this regard, adding that these will be a major political issue in the upcoming general election 2024.
He also demanded separate wage head for regularly disbursement of monthly salary to daily rated workers till their regularization, enhancement of their wages to Rs 600 per day, regularization of their services under SRO 64, clearance of all pending GP fund cases and gratuity, setting up of Labour Welfare Board, implementation of all Central Laws in J&K. He sought release of 18% DA arrears to employees working in both Central and UT Governments.
