JAMMU, June 23: Aam Aadmi Party leader and DDC Member Suchetgarh, Taranjit Singh Tony today reiterated the demand for restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir and also sought early Assembly polls to ensure justice to the people of the region.
In a statement, the AAP leader said that people in the UT of J&K are suffering a lot due to absence of popular Government as the bureaucratic set-up has totally failed to fulfill the aspirations of the people. He said that degradation of J&K State into a Union Territory has given a moral setback to the people and it is necessary to once again infuse confidence in the people by restoring the statehood of J&K.
“It is necessary that J&K gets back statehood prior to elections because the change in status has brought despair and desolation among the populace, which is unwarranted and should not be the case,” Tony said, adding that election to have popular Government in J&K should now be the priority of the Government as the delimitation process has been completed but before that restoration of statehood is a must.
