BISHNAH, Dec 11: Seeking early restoration of statehood to J&K and installation of an elected Govt, Harsh Dev Singh, former Minister and senior AAP leader said that prolonged Central rule in the erstwhile State was a negation of the constitutional guarantees enshrined in the Constitution of India.
Addressing a public rally in Arnia today, he said that dismantling of 200 year old historical State of J&K and downgrading it to the level of UT had not only lowered the morale of the people of erstwhile State but caused huge disenchantment in the hearts and minds of the general masses. “It was not a demotion of the State only. Infact every sensible citizen felt downgraded and humiliated. It had deeply hurt the sentiments of the people of J&K who felt belittled and dwarfed,” said Mr Singh.
The AAP leader said that the demotion of State to UT level was not only unprecedented in the history but amounted to huge disparagement of the patriotic people of Jammu and Kashmir. Demanding early restoration of statehood and installation of an elected Govt, he urged for personal intervention of the President of India to save the people of J&K from dictatorial and autocratic regime.
Yashpaul Kundal and Taranjit Singh Tony, senior AAP leaders, while alleging continued neglect and deprivation of Jammu region, said that BJP had failed to redeem any of its promises made to its electorates with majority of the development projects of UT having been either stalled or abandoned. “The Jammu region which remained the strongest bastion of BJP has continued to remain the victim of the cold criminal negligence of the present regime. The projects including Artificial Tawi Lake, Mubarak Mandi Heritage Project, Development of River Tawi on Sabarmati pattern, Smart City, Jambu Zoo etc have either been abandoned or going at snail’s pace. Unemployed and underemployed youth are on the roads. And the only achievement of the BJP led Government after Article 370 abrogation appeared to be the installation of multiple Toll Plazas and opening of multiple liquor vends,” they said.
Prominent among others, who spoke on the occasion, included Om Parkash Khajuria, Jayesh Gupta, Prem Pal Dogra, S Gulzar Singh. Asha Devi and Anita Choudhary.
