Restore statehood to J&K, hold assembly polls: Yaseen

Excelsior Correspondent
BUDGAM, Sept 11: Chairman People’s Democratic Front (PDF) Hakeem Yaseen has urged the Centre to restore full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir along with holding of early Assembly elections  to end the prevailing socio-political  uncertainty .
Speaking to people during his public out reach campaign in various villages of Khansahib constituency in Budgam, Hakeem Yaseen said that holding of early elections  was imperative to end prevailing socio- political uncertainty in Jammu and Kashmir.
“People of J&K were suffering due to governance deficit  in absence of a civilian Government. All the social and developmental initiatives here have been pushed to wall. The people want a civilian  Government to get their grievances and day to day problems redressed adequately through their elected representatives,” Yaseen maintained.
“In absence of an elected Government, there was no accountability in the administration,” Yaseen said adding that a wide disconnect prevails  between the bureaucracy and people at the gross roots level that has wrecked a havoc with the issue and interests of public at large.
He said restoration of State Assembly  was necessary to push forward the process of stalled developmental tempo in Jammu and Kashmir.
PDF Chairman urged the Centre to restore full statehood to J&K which was imperative to end the brewing and prevailing unrest and mistrust among the common people . He said unless full Statehood and an elected State  Assembly was restored, return of peace would be a distant dream.
Yaseen further castigated the Government for neglecting  development of three important tourism development authorities of Yusmarg, Doodhpathri and Tosmaidan in district Budgam despite the fact that these virgin tourist destinations have  vast potential to create ample  job  opportunities for the local populace especially  unemployed youth.
He cautioned the Central Govt that J&K was a sensitive border area and any delay in restoring constitutional rights to its people could be exploited by the vested interests.
