Restore Statehood To J&K To Initiate Decision On Detainees Facing Less Charges: Tanvi Sadiq

SRINAGAR, Nov 18: The National Conference on Monday appealed to the central government to restore the statehood to Jammu and Kashmir so that decision on the detainees who are not facing serious charges can be initiated.

“There are two things as a government it does not have Home and law and order”, NC MLA and Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq told media persons in Srinagar on Friday.
Sadiq said that the Party will raise these issues with the Lieutenant Governor and the Union Government soon.
“We repeatedly appealed that the Law and order decision should be taken by the elected government so that those detainees who have been booked and does not have committed serious crimes should be shifted here and get released”, he said.
The NC Chief Spokesperson hoped that in the next few months the statehood will be restored to Jammu and Kashmir and the big issues of the people could be settled.
Meanwhile, Omar Abdullah’s government completed one month in office.
“I want to congratulate the people of Jammu and Kashmir who gave mandate to Omar Abdullah led National Conference. It is due to that mandate the Chief Minister fulfilled four of the twelve big promises which had been mentioned in the party manifesto during the first month of the government”, he said.
He said during this period the a resolutions for the restoration of statehood was passed by the Cabinet.
“A resolution for restoration of Special Status was passed by the Assembly. The shifting of examination from March session to November back in Kashmir besides orders were issued for age relaxation to the job aspirants,” Sadiq said.
“Still the road is far away and difficult”, he said and added “but there is a five year mandate. We will complete all the promises which had been mentioned in the party manifesto during these five years”.
The NC MLA said there are so many things connected with the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. “We are repeatedly appealing to the central government to restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir at the earliest so that the remaining promises made by the party could be fulfilled at the earliest”, he said.
The Chief Spokesperson said that what has been mentioned in the Lieutenant Governor’s address in the assembly to provide 200 units of electricity free and additional ration to the consumers, gas and other items the action on these issues are underway and soon would be fulfilled.
“We want to assure the people of Jammu and Kashmir that this is their own government and all the promises which our party has made will be fulfilled”, he assured.
Regarding the recent meeting of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah with the central ministers, Sadiq said that there are so many things which the government wants to get fulfilled soon so that the people of Jammu and Kashmir get relief.
“We are also looking for a major package from the centre besides a boost in tourism which is in main focus and trade, horticulture, economy and infrastructure which are in the pipeline”, he said.
The Chief Spokesperson assured that people will get relief in the winter months with the availability of electricity and other necessary items in Kashmir valley. (Agencies)
