SAMBA, Oct 21: Apni Party Provincial President, Manjit Singh has demanded restoration of statehood to protect jobs and land in J&K.
Addressing a gathering at Panchayat Bari in Bari Brahmana, Singh claimed that people have lost their hopes of developments after August 5 changes in J&K.
“There is no sigh of relief for the people who hoped job and other sectors to see a difference. No elections are being held in J&K and the administration does not listen to the grievances of the people,” he said.
Singh was addressing a group of youth wherein he said: “The promises are yet to be fulfilled with regard to the jobs. The downgrading of Dogra state into a Union Territory has deeply saddened the people of Jammu in particular.”
“The people had hopes with the Government which has turned blind eyes towards their suffering. Elected government is answerable to the people and the bureaucrats have no such responsibility. It is because of this reason, the people have developed a feeling of alienation and no one is listening to their issues,” said Manjit Singh.
Addressing a meeting of PRI members and other prominent people of Bari Panchayat, he expressed concern over the poor drinking water and electricity supply in the villages.
He also expressed concern over the shabby condition of the roads.
Prominent among those who attended the meeting were Mohammed Saleem Alam, Noor Hussain, Babu Ram Bhagat, Master Thodu Ram, retired Subedar Jagdish Raj, Naginder Kumar Kattal and others.
