Restoring peace, strengthening harmony our biggest achievement: Rana

BISHNAH, Sept 11: Stressing the crucial need for maintaining communal harmony and peace, Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana today said that certain elements were attempting to vitiate the atmosphere ahead of 2014 elections to derive political mileage.
“Communal harmony is in peril, as certain political outfits are desperately in search of emotive issues to divide the people in order to gain maximum advantage in the polarized situation”, the Provincial President said while addressing party workers at Bamyal in Nagrota and Bishnah here this evening.
Giving an overview of the political situation obtaining across the country, Mr Rana urged party workers to guard against the intrigues being perpetrated by vested interests, which, he said, are out to create discord among the people by unleashing falsehood and indulging in deceit.
“Lacking agenda to motivate voters, the frustrated politicians will resort to breaching peace for their ulterior motives”, he feared and said that the need of the hour is to unite, irrespective of caste, creed or colour and to fight these forces tooth and nail.
“While maintaining our age old unity, we must work together to sustain the peace that has dawned after great efforts put in by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah”, Mr Rana said while referring to the volatile situation that prevailed when National Conference led Government took over the reins of administration in the State. He said alongside restoring peace and normalcy, the Chief Minister embarked upon a mission to ensure holistic development of all the three regions of the state.
The Provincial President said the tempo of development will gain further momentum only when there is peace and tranquility across the State. He sought the support and cooperation of the people for the Omar Abdullah led Government to keep the development ongoing in order to ensure a better life for the people. He said National Conference is committed to complete the unfinished task and building a prosperous and peaceful state.
“Challenges are gigantic and we have to meet these unitedly”, he said and exhorted National Conference workers to play bridge between the people and the Government to ensure that fruit of development and various welfare schemes reaches them expeditiously. He said the party workers are duty bound to build close rapport with the people in every nook and corner of the State and to ensure that their problems are mitigated in right earnest. He also asked them to work for strengthening the bonds of brotherhood between various sections of society and keep eye on those who want to disturb this spirit for petty politics.
