JAMMU, Oct 8: Councillor of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Sham Lal Basson from Ward number 48 (Bahu Fort area) along with residents of his Ward demanded resumption of pensions to widows, physically disabled and old age persons.
Addressing a press conference here today Basson quoted a government order which issued new rules under Integrated Social Security Scheme wherein for the purpose of availing financial assistance, PHH/AAY ration cards have been made mandatory for existing beneficiaries and they have to apply online for re-sanctioning of pensions.
“More than 90 per cent pension holders in Jammu city have NPHH Ration Cards and they have been debarred from these benefits because CAPD has stopped bifurcation of ration cards and there is a slow process of preparation of PHH/AAY Ration Cards,” he said adding that the initiative taken by the Mayor JMC also yielded nothing in this regard.
“People have completed all the formalities but CAPD is not accepting their forms due to lack of bifurcation of Ration Cards,” the JMC Councillor said.
He further said that if the order of SWD is not revoked or modified the affected people will be on roads.
Prof. (retd) Chaman Lal Shivgotra; Bahadur Lal, ex-president Saryara Sabha Bahu Fort; Prakash Chand, 91; Shanker Dass, 85 and Milkhi Ram, 86 were also present in the press conference.
