Inch by inch , blow by blow . Our forefathers inspired to break the shackles of slavery, wrenched the flag of freedom from the Colonial masters. The ancient heritage saved from further plunder, unique diversity of race,color and creed integrated, the idea of India as a small seed planted in the soil to rise as the great sovereign Republic on 70th grand finale. The promise of a life of nation to determine its own roadmap and destiny with Soul of India as the beacon of light. Self–respect and the badge of honor called identity. Ritually every year the Prime Minister unfurls the tricolor from the ramparts of the Red Fort . This time the moment will be the journey of a nation crossing the 70th year. Billions will witness this historic moment.The youth in whose hands lies the future and old who are in their later years of life.The generation of the partition era would perhaps would have no survivors to witness. As the Parade marches with the pomp and ceremony, there will be the might of the tanks and dazzling air power. The cultural caravan displaying the colorful songs and ethnic dances. It is indeed critical to our commitment, responsibility, to listen to the inner-voice of what the forefathers gave us the “flame of freedom”,” and now what we owe to them to take the nation ahead The guardians of the flame of freedom .That we hold it the highest to the shrine of the sacrifices and pain and struggle of those brave fighters who fought for a free India which is in full splendors on 70th culmination. It is not merely a ceremony. But the highest sacred milestone in the journey of our nation . Time for introspection . To safeguard, uphold, protect and defend this sacred flame. India must stand on guard. There are twin challenges and threats which have been closely identified. Internal and external. The rise of communal stirrings is a challenge to every Indian. The fabric of unity can be torn into shreds of division. The unique inheritage and the diversity has to be preserved more than ever. The trauma and deadly devastation of partition still casts a shadow. The grim and dark night when millions perished. The partition family survivors know the saga of horror .The dark puerile low impulse of communalism cannot be allowed to destroy the brotherhood and harmony. Much as the looming clouds of threats hover on the horizon of which we are too familiar .In essence the approach of Indians is secular, broad-minded , one of co-existence . The danger of dark forces have the potential to ignite the fires of hatred on the innocent by propaganda, mischief and diabolical designs. We represent different faiths, creed, colour ,language . But we are Indians first. I share my journey as a minority member and achieved the position of IGP IPS . First in the province . I experienced no alienation , minority syndrome. My struggle was never characterized by a communal tinge .In fact It has been a privilege to be a minority. I have been empowered by the Muslim and the Hindu. In my professional journey I have been trusted by the most sensitive assignments based on competence and dedication. If this is not secularism and the spirit of communal solidarity , I fail to understand otherwise. The bonds are greater than the battle.As a tribute the need of the hour is to rekindle the spirit of brotherhood and love . It is the time to build the bridges of goodwill and move forward.The time is exciting to fulfill the national aspirations. The 1947 carnage ought not to be lost in the sands of time or be forgotten. The dark memories should always caution us .Keep us on high alert that if left unattended it can ignite the passions of hatred to cause the dreaded holocaust. India is poised to touch the global heights in all the frontiers of progress. The gigantic wheel of growth is unstoppable. Enduring vision prods us. We are the meeting point of ancient civilization blending with technology of 21 st century. We are Indians on the move. A great responsibility to safeguard and protect to once again take the ship of our motherland from the murky waters of communal strife and narrow interpretations. There ahead lies the befitting place where the golden bird will fly once again on the dizzy heights!!
External dimension is the amusing, comical and serious radical shift of foreign policy manouvering by the Chinese. State control media does the bluster talk. Doklam and the stand off. Intriguing that where does the bravado comes from ? Is China desperate and insecure of our rise .Isis adventure in Kashmir is fatal attraction. But the high voltage passions of the youth exploited by the evil propaganda of the enemy nation . The strategic and all abiding hard reality is that Kashmir is destined to be an integral part of India . The good news is on the 70th celebration not an inch has gone to the enemy despite desperate attempts. Trump has changed the international order, the recent walk out from the climate change solidarity in France. Refusal to play ball with the post war world institutions . America first the new accent. United Nation’s a relic . Decaying machinery. Bretix has as yet to see the light of the day . The European unity crumbling . On the other side of the globe North Korea in a cold-blooded maniacal threat has openly warned of a Nuclear strike on the soil of USA. It may be a ploy. But back home the trend does oblige us to be in full preparedness for any misadventure. The next world war will not be fought on land and by foot soldiers . The next clash of civilizations will be just a whisker away from the nuclear button. The 21st century is going to be decisive for mankind. To cross the bridge . India is gathering speed to meet the challenge. In a way in the life of a nation 70th year is just the beginning.
