Srinagar Feb 14: The Rehbar-e-Taleem (ReT) empaneled aspirants of Kashmir protested here today against the authorities for delaying their appointment orders, despite the fact that they have been empaneled for nearly nine years.
Protesting teachers gathered outside the Director of School Education’s office and raised slogans in support of their demands. They chastised the administration for delaying appointment orders in favour of candidates who had been appointed as Rehbar-e-Taleem teachers eight years earlier. “Our protest is against the Government’s sluggishness in providing our appointment orders,” a teacher said, adding that they want implementation court orders in their favour.
They said that a few days ago, one of their colleague, Sansar Chand, got directions from the Supreme Court for engagement. “His directions were accepted and implemented by the department as of 28-12-2021. He is now posted on the post he had applied for earlier, “they said.
They said that the Department of Education agreed to their demand in a Secretariat level meeting on 4th February but then reversed course after a week. “Authorities told us that there were no existing posts for the rest of the aspirants, even though they too had orders in their hands, eagerly awaiting implementation and engagement,” the teachers said.
They claimed that the High Court had issued a clear and unambiguous ruling in their favour, but that the government had merely given them empty assurances. “The government must come forward and state unequivocally that the directives of the Honorable High Court have no weight in the eyes of the government, whereas the directions of the Honorable Supreme Court of India do. We have no choice but to hit the streets because we have no other way of earning a living and most of the candidates have reached the upper age restriction for other work,” they added.
The protesters requested that the court order be followed and that Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha intervene to have their appointment orders issued immediately.
