ReT teacher stage hunger strike

Srinagar, May 7: Rebar-e-Taleem teachers staged a 36 hour hunger strike at Pratap Park here today to press for their demand of release of their salaries.
The ReT’s are demanding release of salaries to the teachers working under SSA that has been withheld for the last 7 to 8 months. The teachers said that they were facing a host of problems including exclusion of regularized ReT teachers from the provision of transfer despite cabinet and High Court orders.
The protestors demanded that KGBV teachers should be regularized and appealed the authorities to shun anti-teachers policies.
The hunger strike was joined by Farooq Ahmad Tantry, chairman of Rehebar-e-Taleem Teachers Forum, vice chairman Ashiq Rasool, Bashir Ahmad Dar, Gazi Abdul, Aziz Salim Sagar and scores of other teachers.
