Hundreds of teachers led by chairman Jammu and Kashmir Rehbar-e-Taleem Teachers Forum, Farooq Ahmad Tantray assembled at Press Enclave and staged a protest to press for their demands.
The protesting teachers said that they were assured in the month of August this year that 7th Pay Commission will be implemented to them but till date the announcement was not followed. “The Advisor to Governor, Khurshid Ganai, had announced the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission in August but the announcement has remained an announcement only and the issue is still pending,” Tantray said.
They also demanded regularization, time bound promotion, delinking of their salaries from MHRD and release of pending salaries.
“These all genuine demands should be fulfilled. There should be a road map to delink our salaries from MHRD and absorb us in state budget so that we can be considered as state employees,” Tantray said.
The protesting teachers threatened to launch a sit-in protest in winter capital Jammu from December 10 if their demands were not fulfilled at the earliest.
