Retd cops project demands

JAMMU, Sept 17: Retired Police personnel today urged upon the State authorities to increase Medical allowance  of the retired Policemen and also provide reservation to their children in the recruitment.
In a meeting of the retired Policemen held here today under the banner of  Ex-Policemen League at District Police  Lines Jammu, the speakers projected their long pending demands. The meet was held under the chairmanship of K S Sambyal (DySP Retd),  president of  the district unit Jammu.
The members expressed that some retired Policemen were in the grip of serious ailments and require early treatment . They can not afford it at their own.  The Police Department should come to their rescue. They also demanded that Medical allowance be enhanced from Rs 300 to Rs 1000 per month, provision of sufficient medicines at Police Hospitals and facility of tests, remove pay anomalies in the pay grades of cops, 5 % reservation in the Police recruitment and professional institutions to their wards and provide office accommodation to  the League in DPL Jammu.
It was also stressed upon the authorities that in case of death of a police official,  on spot payment of  Rs 10,000 ( Ten thousand)   through a special representative of  Police department  should be made to the bereaved family. And all District  SPs/ SSPs be authorized to pay the same. Moreover,  just like GO Mess, NGO Mess  be opened at Jammu and Srinagar cities.
Prominent among those present in the meeting included retired SSPs- Ch Chirag Din, ML Sharma, P L Mattoo, Bachan Singh; Som Raj Dutta, HC Bhagat, K L Tandon- all Retd SPs, Vir Inder Bhushan, Kasturi Lal, Mohd Saleem, Surjit Singh Jamwal, Ch Bagh Ram, Balwant Raj, H L Mehra, Mani Lal, J L Gupta, Suleman Siddiqui and  K C Salgotra- all DySPs retired.
